Gillian Ware was born in Edinburgh in 1937.  When WW11 broke out in 1939 her Artist parents became pacifists, working the land in many parts of the country instead of fighting. This resulted in Gillian spending her childhood developing her relationship to nature in English and Scottish terrains.

When in 1957 she went to Chelsea School of Art, she found that her visual love of nature was magnified.  Life classes and London’s parks became of utmost importance, while periodically returning to the country was totally magical. Similarly, coming to Los Angeles in 2004, she was consumed by the many fantastic, sculptural trees.  Now living in Pasadena, Gillian’s artistic process continues to be inextricably tied to nature.

Throughout her life she has operated in many roles and mediums: running a successful model-making company in London, Painter, Etcher, Filmmaker, Tree-Activist and Photographer.

Since living in LA, Gillian has regularly exhibited with Los Angeles Center for Digital Art (LACDA) where she is a Member Artist and in exhibitions with fellow University of the Arts London (UAL) Alumni in Los Angeles.
